Challenge Family Centre

The heart and soul of our organisation where our families can access a range of non-medical support programs and services.

Situated conveniently in the heart of West Melbourne – a short drive from the Royal Children’s Hospital – the Challenge Family Centre is an open and supportive space where families living with childhood cancer can access an extensive range of non-medical support services including playgroup, art, massage and music therapy, alongside an extensive resource library.

The first of its kind in Australia, the Centre was a long-term project first conceptualised by Challenge Chief Executive Officer, David Rogers. He said: “After decades of experience and hearing the various needs voiced by families living with cancer, it became clear that the Challenge Family Centre was exactly what this organisation required. In 2011, we delivered on that requirement and built what is now the heart of our organisation.”

Trained staff skilled at working with cancer patients and their families will be on hand to meet and greet visitors to the centre, chat with them about their issues and generally assist our visitors to make appropriate use of the facilities provided.

The Centre is also accessible to Challenge volunteers and supporters should they wish to drop in for a coffee or chat.
